আল-আহকাফ: 28

Then why did those they took besides Allāh as deities by which to approach [Him] not aid them? But they had strayed [i.e., departed] from them. And that was their falsehood and what they were inventing.

Then why did those whom they had taken for aliha (gods) besides Allah, as a way of approach (to Allah) not help them? Nay, but they vanished completely from them (when there came the torment). And that was their lie, and their inventions which they had been inventing (before their destruction).

So, why is it that they were not helped by those whom they had taken as gods beside Allah in order to attain closeness (to Him)? Instead, they vanished from them. That was, in fact, their falsity and a thing they used to fabricate.

So why did those whom they had set up as gods apart from Allah, hoping that they would bring them nearer to Him, not come to their aid? Instead, they failed them. This was the end of the lie they had fabricated and the false beliefs they had invented.

Then why did those whom they had chosen for gods as a way of approach (unto Allah) not help them? Nay, but they did fail them utterly. And (all) that was their lie, and what they used to invent.

Why then was no help forthcoming to them from those whom they worshipped as gods, besides Allah, as a means of access (to Allah)? Nay, they left them in the lurch: but that was their falsehood and their invention.

আল্লাহর নৈকট্য লাভের উদ্দেশ্যে আল্লাহ ব্যতিরেকে যাদেরকে তারা ইলাহরূপে গ্রহণ করেছে তারা তাদেরকে সাহায্য করল না কেন? বরং তারা (অর্থাৎ কল্পিত ইলাহ) তাদের থেকে হারিয়ে গেল। আসলে তা ছিল তাদের মিথ্যাচার আর মনগড়া উদ্ভাবন।

অতঃপর তারা আল্লাহর সান্নিধ্য লাভের জন্য আল্লাহর পরিবর্তে যাদেরকে উপাস্যরূপে গ্রহণ করেছিল, তারা কেন তাদেরকে সাহায্য করল না? বরং তারা তাদের থেকে অদৃশ্য হয়ে গেল, আর এটা তাদের মিথ্যাচার এবং তাদের মনগড়া উদ্ভাবন।

তারা আল্লাহর সান্নিধ্য লাভের জন্য আল্লাহর পরিবর্তে যাদেরকে মা‘বূদ রূপে গ্রহণ করেছিল তারা তাদেরকে সাহায্য করলনা কেন? বস্তুতঃ তাদের মা‘বূদগুলি তাদের নিকট হতে অন্তর্হিত হয়ে পড়ল। তাদের মিথ্যা ও অলীক উদ্ভাবনের পরিণাম এরূপই।

অতঃপর তারা আল্লাহর সান্নিধ্য লাভের জন্য আল্লাহ্‌র পরিবর্তে যাদেরকে ইলাহরূপে গ্ৰহণ করেছিল তারা তাদেরকে সাহায্য করল না কেন? বরং তাদের ইলাহগুলো তাদের কাছ থেকে হারিয়ে গেল। আর এটা ছিল তাদের মিথ্যাচার এবং যা তারা অলীক উদ্ভাবন করছিল।

আল্লাহ ছাড়া যাদেরকে তারা আল্লাহর নৈকট্য লাভের উপায় মনে করে মা‘বূদ বানিয়ে নিয়েছিল তারা এদেরকে কেন সাহায্য করল না? বরং তারা তো তাদের কাছ থেকে হারিয়ে গেল। তারা যে মিথ্যা ও অলীক উদ্ভাবন করেছিল তার পরিণাম এটাই।

২৮. তাদের মূর্তিগুলো কেন তাদের সাহায্যে এগিয়ে আসেনি যেগুলোর নৈকট্য লাভের উদ্দেশ্যে তারা পূজা ও বলি দিতো?! তাদেরকে আদৗ সাহায্য করেনি বরং তাদের থেকে সর্বাপেক্ষা অধিক প্রয়োজনের সময় দূরে সরে পড়েছে। বস্তুতঃ এটি হলো তাদের সেই মিথ্যা ও রটনার স্বরূপ যদ্বারা তারা নিজেদেরকে প্রবোধ দিতো এই বলে যে, এ সব মূর্তি তাদেরকে উপকার দিবে ও আল্লাহর নিকট সুপারিশ করবে।
