আর-রূম: 9

Have they not traveled through the earth and observed how was the end of those before them? They were greater than them in power, and they plowed [or excavated] the earth and built it up more than they [i.e., the Makkans] have built it up, and their messengers came to them with clear evidences. And Allāh would not ever have wronged them, but they were wronging themselves.

Do they not travel in the land, and see what was the end of those before them? They were superior to them in strength, and they tilled the earth and populated it in greater numbers than these (pagans) have done, and there came to them their Messengers with clear proofs. Surely, Allah wronged them not, but they used to wrong themselves.

Have they not traveled on earth to see how was the end of those before them? They were stronger than these in power, and they had tilled the land and had made it more populous than these have made it, and their messengers had come to them with clear proofs. So Allah was not such as could do injustice to them, but they used to do injustice to themselves.

Have they not travelled through the earth that they may observe what was the end of their predecessors who were far mightier and tilled the land and built upon it more than these have ever built? And Allah's Messengers came to them with Clear Signs. It was not Allah Who wronged them, but it is they who wronged themselves.

Have they not travelled in the land and seen the nature of the consequence for those who were before them? They were stronger than these in power, and they dug the earth and built upon it more than these have built. Messengers of their own came unto them with clear proofs (of Allah's Sovereignty). Surely Allah wronged them not, but they did wrong themselves.

Do they not travel through the earth, and see what was the end of those before them? They were superior to them in strength: they tilled the soil and populated it in greater numbers than these have done: there came to them their messengers with Clear (Signs). (Which they rejected, to their own destruction): It was not Allah Who wronged them, but they wronged their own souls.

তারা কি পৃথিবীতে ভ্রমণ করে না? তাহলে তারা দেখত যে, তাদের পূর্ববর্তীদের পরিণাম কী হয়েছিল। তারা শক্তিতে ছিল এদের চেয়ে অধিক প্রবল। তারা যমীন চাষ করত আর তা আবাদ করত এদের আবাদ করার চেয়ে বেশি। তাদের কাছে তাদের রসূলগণ স্পষ্ট প্রমাণ নিয়ে এসেছিল। অতঃপর আল্লাহ তাদের উপর যুলম করেননি, তারা নিজেরাই নিজেদের উপর যুলম করেছিল।

তারা কি যমীনে ভ্রমণ করে না? তাহলে তারা দেখত যে, তাদের পূর্ববর্তীদের পরিণাম কেমন হয়েছিল। তারা শক্তিতে তাদের চেয়েও প্রবল ছিল। আর তারা জমি চাষ করত এবং তারা এদের আবাদ করার চেয়েও বেশী আবাদ করত। আর তাদের কাছে তাদের রাসূলগণ সুস্পষ্ট প্রমাণাদিসহ এসেছিল। বস্তুতঃ আল্লাহ এমন নন যে, তিনি তাদের প্রতি যুলম করবেন, কিন্তু তারা নিজেরাই নিজদের প্রতি যুলম করত।

তারা কি পৃথিবীতে ভ্রমণ করেনা এবং দেখেনা যে, তাদের পূর্ববর্তীদের পরিণাম কিরূপ হয়েছে? শক্তিতে তারা ছিল তাদের অপেক্ষা প্রবল; তারা জমি চাষ করত, তারা (পূর্ববর্তীরা) ওটা আবাদ করত তাদের অপেক্ষা অধিক। তাদের নিকট এসেছিল তাদের রাসূলগণ সুস্পষ্ট নিদর্শনসহ; বস্তুতঃ তাদের প্রতি যুলম করা আল্লাহর কাজ ছিলনা, বরং তারা নিজেরাই নিজেদের প্রতি যুলম করেছিল।

তারা কি জমিনে ভ্রমণ করে না? তাহলে তারা দেখত যে, তাদের পূর্ববর্তীদের পরিণাম কিরূপ হয়েছিল, শক্তিতে তারা ছিল এদের চেয়ে প্রবল, তারা জমি চাষ করত, তারা সেটা আবাদ করত এদের আবাদ করার চেয়ে বেশী। আর তাদের কাছে এসেছিল তাদের রাসূলগণ স্পষ্ট প্রমাণাদিসহ; বস্তুত আল্লাহ্ এমন নন যে, তাদের প্রতি যুলুম করেন, কিন্তু তারা নিজেরাই নিজেদের উপর যুলুম করেছিল।

তারা কি দুনিয়াতে ভ্রমণ করে না? করলে দেখত যে, তাদের পূর্ববর্তীদের পরিণাম কেমন ভয়াবহ হয়েছিল। তারা ক্ষমতায় ছিল এদের চেয়ে প্রবল:‎ তারা জমিন চাষ করত এবং তারা জমিনকে আবাদ করত, এরা যে পরিমাণ আবাদ করে তার চেয়ে অধিক। তাদের কাছে তাদের রাসূলগণ প্রকাশ্য দৃষ্টান্ত নিয়ে এসেছিল। আল্লাহ তো এমন নন যে, তাদের ওপর অত্যাচার করবেন, বরং তারা নিজেরাই নিজেদের ওপর অত্যাচার করেছিল।

৯. এরা কেন যমীনে ভ্রমণ করে না, যাতে পূর্বসূরী মিথ্যাচারকারীদের পরিণাম নিয়ে ভাবতে পারে? যারা তাদের অপেক্ষা আরো শক্তিশালী ছিল, যমীনকে শস্যাদি ও আবাসন দ্বারা তারা অনেক বেশী আবাদ ও পরিবর্ধন করেছিল। তাদের নিকট আল্লাহর একত্ববাদের সুস্পষ্ট দলীল-প্রমাণাদি নিয়ে তাদের রাসূলগণ আগমন করেছিলেন। তারা তাদেরকে মিথ্যারোপ করেছিল। ফলে আল্লাহ তাদেরকে ধংস করে আদৗ জুলুম করেন নি। বরং তারা কুফুরী করার মাধ্যমে তাদেরকে ধ্বংসের দিকে ঠেলে দিয়ে নিজেদের উপর নিজেরাই জুলুম করেছে।
