And as for Thamūd, We guided them, but they preferred blindness over guidance, so the thunderbolt of humiliating punishment seized them for what they used to earn.

And as for Thamud, We showed and made clear to them the Path of Truth (Islamic Monotheism) through Our Messenger, (i.e. showed them the way of success), but they preferred blindness to guidance, so the Sa'iqah (a destructive awful cry, torment, hit, a thunderbolt) of disgracing torment seized them, because of what they used to earn.

As for Thamūd, We showed them the way, but they preferred blindness to the guidance. Therefore, they were seized by the bang of the abasing punishment because of what they used to earn.

As for Thamud, We bestowed guidance upon them, but they preferred to remain blind rather than be guided. At last a humiliating scourge overtook them on account of their misdeeds.

And as for Thamud, We gave them guidance, but they preferred blindness to the guidance, so the bolt of the doom of humiliation overtook them because of what they used to earn.

As to the Thamud, We gave them Guidance, but they preferred blindness (of heart) to Guidance: so the stunning Punishment of humiliation seized them, because of what they had earned.

আর সামূদের অবস্থা এই যে, আমি তাদেরকে সঠিক পথে চলার নির্দেশ দিয়েছিলাম। কিন্তু তারা সঠিক পথে চলার পরিবর্তে অন্ধ হয়ে থাকাকেই পছন্দ করে ছিল। তখন তাদের কৃতকর্মের কারণে অপমানজনক শাস্তির বজ্রাঘাত তাদেরকে পাকড়াও করল।

আর সামূদ সম্প্রদায়, আমি তাদেরকে সঠিক পথের নির্দেশনা দিয়েছিলাম; কিন্তু তারা সঠিক পথে চলার পরিবর্তে অন্ধ পথে চলাই পছন্দ করেছিল। ফলে তাদের অর্জনের কারণেই লাঞ্ছনাদায়ক আযাবের বজ্রাঘাত তাদেরকে পাকড়াও করল।

আর সামূদ সম্প্রদায়ের ব্যাপার এই যে, আমি তাদেরকে পথ নির্দেশ করেছিলাম, কিন্তু তারা সৎ পথের পরিবর্তে ভ্রান্ত পথ অবলম্বন করেছিল। অতঃপর তাদেরকে লাঞ্ছনাদায়ক শাস্তি আঘাত হানলো তাদের কৃতকর্মের পরিণাম স্বরূপ।

আর সামূদ সম্প্রদায়, আমরা তাদেরকে পথনির্দেশ করেছিলাম, কিন্তু তারা সৎপথের পরিবর্তে অন্ধপথে চলা পছন্দ করেছিল। ফলে লাঞ্ছনাদায়ক শাস্তির বজ্রাঘাত তাদের পাকড়াও করল; তারা যা অর্জন করেছিল তার জন্য।

আর সামূদ সম্প্রদায়ের ব্যাপার এই যে, আমি তাদেরকে পথ নির্দেশ করেছিলাম; কিন্তু তারা সৎ পথের পরিবর্তে অন্ধত্ব (ভ্রান্ত পথ) অবলম্বন করেছিল। অতঃপর তাদের কৃতকর্মের পরিণামস্বরূপ লাঞ্ছনাদায়ক বজ্র শাস্তি আঘাত হানল।

১৭. আর আমি সালেহের জাতি সামূদকে সত্যের পথ বাতলে দেয়ার মাধ্যমে দিক নির্দেশনা দিলাম। কিন্তু তারা হেদায়েতের উপর ভ্রষ্টতাকে প্রাধান্য দিলো। ফলে তাদের কৃত কুফরী ও পাপের বিনিময়ে তাদেরকে অপমানকর শাস্তি পাকড়াও করলো।
