আল-হাজ্জ: 46

So have they not traveled through the earth and have hearts by which to reason and ears by which to hear? For indeed, it is not eyes that are blinded, but blinded are the hearts which are within the breasts.

Have they not travelled through the land, and have they hearts wherewith to understand and ears wherewith to hear? Verily, it is not the eyes that grow blind, but it is the hearts which are in the breasts that grow blind.

Have they not, then, traveled on earth so that they should have had hearts to understand with, or ears to listen with? The fact is that it is not the eyes that turn blind, but what turns blind is the hearts contained in the chests.

Have they not journeyed in the land that their hearts might understand and their ears might listen? For indeed it is not the eyes that are blinded; it is rather the hearts in the breasts that are rendered blind.

Have they not travelled in the land, and have they hearts wherewith to feel and ears wherewith to hear? For indeed it is not the eyes that grow blind, but it is the hearts, which are within the bosoms, that grow blind.

Do they not travel through the land, so that their hearts (and minds) may thus learn wisdom and their ears may thus learn to hear? Truly it is not their eyes that are blind, but their hearts which are in their breasts.

তারা কি যমীনে ভ্রমণ করে না? তাহলে তারা হৃদয় দিয়ে বুঝতে পারত, আর তাদের কান শুনতে পারত। প্রকৃতপক্ষে চোখ অন্ধ নয়, বরং বুকের ভিতর যে হৃদয় আছে তা-ই অন্ধ।

তারা কি যমীনে ভ্রমণ করেনি? তাহলে তাদের হত এমন হৃদয় যা দ্বারা তারা উপলব্ধি করতে পারত এবং এমন কান যা দ্বারা তারা শুনতে পারত। বস্ত্তত চোখ তো অন্ধ হয় না, বরং অন্ধ হয় বক্ষস্থিত হৃদয়।

তারা কি দেশ ভ্রমণ করেনি? তাহলে তারা জ্ঞান বুদ্ধি সম্পন্ন হৃদয় ও শ্রুতিশক্তি সম্পন্ন কর্ণের অধিকারী হতে পারত। বস্তুতঃ চক্ষুতো অন্ধ নয়, বরং অন্ধ হচ্ছে বক্ষস্থিত হৃদয়।

তারা কি যমীনে ভ্রমণ করেনি? তাহলে তারা জ্ঞানবুদ্ধিসম্পন্ন হৃদয় ও শ্রুতিশক্তিসম্পন্ন শ্রবণের অধিকারী হতে পারত। বস্তুত চোখ তো অন্ধ নয়, বরং অন্ধ হচ্ছে বুকের মধ্যে অবস্থিত হৃদয়।

তারা কি দেশ ভ্রমণ করেনি? তাহলে তারা জ্ঞান-বুদ্ধিসম্পন্ন হৃদয় ও শ্র“তিশক্তিসম্পন্ন শ্রবণের অধিকারী হতে পারত। বস্তুত চক্ষু তো অন্ধ নয়, বরং অন্ধ হচ্ছে বক্ষস্থিত হৃদয়।

৪৬. রাসূল আনীত বিধান অস্বীকারকারীরা কি ভ্রমণ করে না। তাহলে তারা ধ্বংসপ্রাপ্ত জনপদগুলো দেখে নিজেদের বিবেক খাটিয়ে কিছুটা শিক্ষা গ্রহণ করতে পারতো, গ্রহণের মানসিকতা নিয়ে তাদের ঘটনাগুলো দেখে-শুনে কিছুটা হলেও উপদেশ গ্রহণ করতে পারতো। বস্তুতঃ আসল অন্ধত্ব চোখের অন্ধত্ব নয়। বরং সত্যিকারের ধ্বংসকারী ও বিনাশী অন্ধত্ব হলো বিবেকের অন্ধত্ব। যার অধিকারী কোন ধরনের শিক্ষা ও উপদেশ গ্রহণ করে না।
