আল-ফুরকান: 42

He almost would have misled us from our gods had we not been steadfast in [worship of] them." But they are going to know, when they see the punishment, who is farthest astray in [his] way.

"He would have nearly misled us from our aliha (gods), had it not been that we were patient and constant in their worship!" And they will know when they see the torment, who it is that is most astray from the (Right) Path!

He would have almost led us astray from our gods, had we not been so firm towards them.” They will know when they will see the punishment, who is farther astray in his way.

Had we not firmly persevered in our devotion to them (he had almost) led us astray from our gods." But soon, when they see the chastisement, they will come to know who had strayed too far from the Right Way.

He would have led us far away from our gods if we had not been staunch to them. They will know, when they behold the doom, who is more astray as to the road.

"He indeed would well-nigh have misled us from our gods, had it not been that we were constant to them!" - Soon will they know, when they see the Penalty, who it is that is most misled in Path!

সে তো আমাদেরকে আমাদের ইলাহদের থেকে অবশ্যই সরিয়ে দিত যদি আমরা তাদের প্রতি দৃঢ়চিত্ত না থাকতাম। যখন তারা শাস্তি দেখবে তখন জানবে যে পথের ক্ষেত্রে কারা অধিক ভ্রষ্ট ছিল।

‘সে তো আমাদেরকে আমাদের দেবতাদের থেকে দূরে সরিয়ে দিত, যদি আমরা তাদের প্রতি অবিচল না থাকতাম’। আর যখন তারা আযাব দেখবে, তখন অবশ্যই জানতে পারবে কে অধিক পথভ্রষ্ট।

সেতো আমাদেরকে আমাদের দেবতাদের হতে দূরে সরিয়ে দিত যদি না আমরা তাদের আনুগত্যে দৃঢ় প্রতিষ্ঠিত থাকতাম। যখন তারা শাস্তি প্রত্যক্ষ করবে তখন তারা জানবে কে সর্বাধিক পথভ্রষ্ট।

‘সে তো আমাদেরকে আমাদের উপাস্যগণ হতে দূরে সরিয়েই দিত, যদি না আমরা তাদের আনুগত্যের উপর অবিচল থাকতাম।’ আর যখন তারা শাস্তি প্রত্যক্ষ করবে, তখন জানতে পারবে কে অধিক পথভ্ৰষ্ট।

সে তো আমাদেরকে আমাদের মা‘বূদদের হতে গুমরাহ করেই ফেলত, যদি না আমরা তাদের আনুগত্যে ধৈর্যের সাথে প্রতিষ্ঠিত থাকতাম।’ যখন তারা শাস্তি‎ প্রত্যক্ষ করবে তখন তারা অচিরেই জানবে কে অধিক পথভ্রষ্ট।

৪২. সে তো আমাদেরকে নিজেদের মা’বূদগুলোর ইবাদাত থেকে বহু দূরেই সরিয়ে দিচ্ছিলো। যদি আমরা সেগুলোর ইবাদাতে ধৈর্য না ধরতাম তাহলে তো সে আমাদেরকে নিজ দলীল ও প্রমাণাদির মাধ্যমে সেগুলোর ইবাদাত থেকে নিশ্চয়ই দূরে সরিয়ে দিতো। তারা যখন নিজেদের কবরে ও কিয়ামতের দিন আযাব দেখতে পাবে তখন তারা অচিরেই জানতে পারবে যে, কে সবচেয়ে পথভ্রষ্ট, তারা না তিনি? তারা অচিরেই জানতে পারবে কে সর্বাধিক পথভ্রষ্ট।
