The people of Noah denied before them and the [disbelieving] factions after them, and every nation intended [a plot] for their messenger to seize him, and they disputed by [using] falsehood to [attempt to] invalidate thereby the truth. So I seized them, and how [terrible] was My penalty.

The people of Nuh (Noah) and the confederates after them denied (their Messengers) before these, and every (disbelieving) nation plotted against their Messenger to seize him, and disputed by means of falsehood to refute therewith the truth. So I seized them (with punishment), and how (terrible) was My punishment!

Before these, the people of NūH and the groups after them had rejected (the messengers). Every group intended to seize their messenger, and raised disputes on the basis of falsehood, so that they might refute the truth with it, hence I seized them. So, how was My punishment?

Before them the people of Noah also gave the lie (to Messengers), and so did many parties after them. Each nation sallied forth against its Messenger to seize him, and they disputed with false arguments seeking therewith to repudiate the Truth. Then I seized them; and behold, how woeful was My retribution!

The folk of Noah and the factions after them denied (their messengers) before these, and every nation purposed to seize their messenger and argued falsely, (thinking) thereby to refute the Truth. Then I seized them, and how (awful) was My punishment.

But (there were people) before them, who denied (the Signs),- the People of Noah, and the Confederates (of Evil) after them; and every People plotted against their prophet, to seize him, and disputed by means of vanities, therewith to condemn the Truth; but it was I that seized them! and how (terrible) was My Requital!

এদের পূর্বে নূহের জাতি আর তাদের পরে বহু দল-গোষ্ঠী (রসূলদেরকে) অস্বীকার করেছিল। প্রত্যেক জাতি তাদের রসূলের বিরুদ্ধে চক্রান্ত করেছিল তাকে পাকড়াও করার জন্য, আর অসার অস্ত্রের সাহায্যে বিরোধিতায় লিপ্ত হয়েছিল তা দিয়ে সত্যকে খন্ডন করার জন্য। ফলে আমি তাদেরকে পাকড়াও করেছিলাম। অতঃপর দেখ, কেমন কঠোর ছিল আমার শাস্তি।

এদের পূর্বে নূহের কওম এবং তাদের পরে অনেক দলও অস্বীকার করেছিল। প্রত্যেক উম্মতই স্ব স্ব রাসূলকে পাকড়াও করার সংকল্প করেছিল এবং সত্যকে বিদূরীত করার উদ্দেশ্যে তারা অসার বিতর্কে লিপ্ত হয়েছিল। ফলে আমি তাদেরকে পাকড়াও করলাম। সুতরাং কেমন ছিল আমার আযাব!

তাদের পূর্বে নূহের সম্প্রদায় এবং তাদের পরে অন্যান্য দলও মিথ্যা আরোপ করেছিল। প্রত্যেক সম্প্রদায় নিজ নিজ রাসূলকে আবদ্ধ করার জন্য অভিসন্ধি করেছিল এবং তারা অসার তর্কে লিপ্ত হয়েছিল, সত্যকে ব্যর্থ করে দেয়ার জন্য। ফলে আমি তাদেরকে পাকড়াও করলাম এবং কত কঠোর ছিল আমার শাস্তি!

তাদের আগে নূহের সম্প্রদায় এবং তাদের পরে অনেক দলও মিথ্যারোপ করেছিল। প্ৰত্যেক উম্মত নিজ নিজ রাসূলকে পাকড়াও করার সংকল্প করেছিল এবং তারা অসার তর্কে লিপ্ত হয়েছিল, তা দ্বারা সত্যকে ব্যর্থ করে দেয়ার জন্য। ফলে আমি তাদেরকে পাকড়াও করলাম। সুতরাং কত কঠোর ছিল আমার শাস্তি!

তাদের পূর্বে নূহ (আঃ)-এর সম্প্রদায় এবং তাদের পরে অন্যান্য দলও মিথ্যারোপ করেছিল। প্রত্যেক সম্প্রদায় নিজ নিজ রাসূলকে গ্রেফতার করার চক্রান্ত করেছিল এবং তারা বাজে তর্কে লিপ্ত হয়েছিল, এর দ্বারা সত্যকে নষ্ট করে দেওয়ার ইচ্ছায়; ফলে আমি তাদেরকে পাকড়াও করলাম এবং কত কঠোর ছিল আমার শাস্তি!

৫. এদের পূর্বে নূহ (আলাইহিস-সালাম) এর জাতি মিথ্যারোপ করেছে এবং এদের পূর্বে ও পরে বহু জাতি মিথ্যারোপ করেছে। তেমনিভাবে ‘আদ, সামূদ, লূত্ব জাতি ও মাদায়েনবাসী এবং ফিরআউন মিথ্যারোপ করেছে। প্রত্যেক জাতি মনস্ত করেছে যে, স্বীয় রাসূলকে ধরে হত্যা করবে। তারা বাতিলের পক্ষে তর্ক করছে যেন তারা সত্যকে প্রতিহত করতে পারে। ফলে আমি সে সব জাতিকে পাকড়াও করেছি। অতএব, আপনি গভীরভাবে ভেবে দেখুন, তাদের জন্য আমার শাস্তি কেমন ছিলো। বস্তুতঃ সেটি ছিল কঠিন শাস্তি।
