আত-তাওবা: 59

If only they had been satisfied with what Allāh and His Messenger gave them and said, "Sufficient for us is Allāh; Allāh will give us of His bounty, and [so will] His Messenger; indeed, we are desirous toward Allāh," [it would have been better for them].

Would that they were contented with what Allah and His Messenger (SAW) gave them and had said: "Allah is Sufficient for us. Allah will give us of His Bounty, and (also) His Messenger (from alms, etc.). We implore Allah (to enrich us)."

Would that they were content with what Allah and His Messenger had given to them, and were to say, “Allah is sufficient for us; Allah and His Messenger will give us (more) out of His grace (when they so will). Indeed, we crave for (the pleasure of) Allah alone.”

[9:59] Would that they were content with what Allah and His Messenger gave them, and were to say: "Allah suffices for us, and Allah will give us out of His bounty and so will His Messenger. It is to Allah alone that we turn with hope."

(How much more seemly) had they been content with that which Allah and His messenger had given them and had said: Allah sufficeth us. Allah will give us of His bounty, and (also) His messenger. Unto Allah we are suppliants.

If only they had been content with what Allah and His Messenger gave them, and had said, "Sufficient unto us is Allah! Allah and His Messenger will soon give us of His bounty: to Allah do we turn our hopes!" (that would have been the right course).

আল্লাহ ও তাঁর রসূল তাদেরকে যা দিয়েছেন তারা যদি তাতে সন্তুষ্ট থাকত আর বলত, ‘আমাদের জন্য আল্লাহই যথেষ্ট, অচিরেই আল্লাহ অনুগ্রহ করে আমাদেরকে দিবেন আর তাঁর রসূলও, আমরা আশা ভরসা নিয়ে আল্লাহর দিকেই চেয়ে থাকি।’

আর যদি তারা আল্লাহ ও তাঁর রাসূল তাদের যা দিয়েছেন, তাতে সন্তুষ্ট থাকত এবং বলত, ‘আমাদের জন্য আল্লাহই যথেষ্ট, অচিরেই আল্লাহ আমাদেরকে তাঁর অনুগ্রহ দান করবেন এবং তাঁর রাসূলও। নিশ্চয় আমরা আল্লাহর দিকে ধাবিত’।

তাদের জন্য উত্তম হত যদি তারা ওর প্রতি সন্তুষ্ট থাকতো যা কিছু তাদেরকে আল্লাহ ও তাঁর রাসূল দান করেছিলেন, আর বলতঃ আমাদের পক্ষে আল্লাহই যথেষ্ট, ভবিষ্যতে আল্লাহ স্বীয় অনুগ্রহে আমাদেরকে আরও দান করবেন এবং তাঁর রাসূলও, আমরা আল্লাহরই প্রতি আগ্রহান্বিত রইলাম।

আর ভাল হত যদি আল্লাহ্‌ ও তাঁর রাসূল তাদেরকে যা দিয়েছেন তাতে সন্তুষ্ট হত এবং বলত, ‘আল্লাহ্‌ই আমাদের জন্য যথেষ্ট, অচিরেই আল্লাহ্‌ আমাদেরকে দেবেন নিজ করুণায় ও তাঁর রাসূলও; নিশ্চয় আমরা আল্লাহ্‌রই প্রতি অনুরক্ত।

ভাল হত যদি তারা আল্লাহ ও তাঁর রাসূল তাদেরকে যা দিয়েছেন তাতে পরিতুষ্ট হত এবং বলত, ‘আল্লাহই আমাদের জন্য যথেষ্ট, অচিরেই আল্লাহ আমাদেরকে দেবেন তাঁর নিজ করুণায় এবং তাঁর রাসূলও; আমরা আল্লাহরই প্রতি অনুরক্ত।’

৫৯. যদি এ মুনাফিকরা যারা সাদাকা বন্টনে আপনার বদনাম করেছে তারা যদি আল্লাহর বরাদ্দ এবং তাঁর রাসূলের দেয়া সম্পদে সন্তুষ্ট থাকতো এবং তারা বলতো: আল্লাহই আমাদের জন্য যথেষ্ট। আল্লাহ তা‘আলা অচিরেই তাঁর অনুগ্রহ থেকে যা চান আমাদেরকে দিবেন এবং আল্লাহ তা‘আলা তাঁর রাসূলকে যা দিয়েছেন তা থেকে তিনিও অচিরেই আমাদেরকে দিবেন। নিশ্চয়ই আমরা এক আল্লাহর নিকট এ ব্যাপারে প্রত্যাশী যে, তিনি আমাদেরকে তাঁর অনুগ্রহ থেকে দিবেন। যদি তারা এমন করতো তাহলে তা আপনার বদনাম করা থেকে তাদের জন্য অনেক উত্তম হতো।
