Those before them denied, and punishment came upon them from where they did not perceive.

Those before them belied, and so the torment came on them from directions they perceived not.

Those before them had also rejected (the messengers) and consequently, the punishment came upon them in a way that they had never imagined.

Their predecessors gave the lie to the Truth and then chastisement came upon them from whence they could not imagine.

Those before them denied, and so the doom came on them whence they knew not.

Those before them (also) rejected (revelation), and so the Punishment came to them from directions they did not perceive.

তাদের পূর্ববর্তীরাও (নুবুওয়াতকে) অস্বীকার করেছিল। অতঃপর তাদের কাছে এমন দিক থেকে ‘আযাব এসেছিল যা তারা একটু টেরও পায়নি।

তাদের পূর্বে যারা ছিল, তারাও অস্বীকার করেছিল, ফলে তাদের প্রতি এমন ভাবে আযাব এসেছিল যে, তারা অনুভব করতে পারেনি।

তাদের পূর্ববর্তীরাও মিথ্যা আরোপ করেছিল, ফলে শাস্তি তাদেরকে গ্রাস করল তাদের অজ্ঞাতসারে।

তাদের পূর্ববর্তীগণও মিথ্যারোপ করেছিল, ফলে শাস্তি এমনভাবে তাদেরকে গ্রাস করল যে, তারা অনুভবও করতে পারেনি।

তাদের পূর্ববর্তীরাও অস্বীকার করেছিল, ফলে তাদের ওপর ‘আযাব এমনভাবে এসেছিল যে, তারা ভাবতে পারেনি।

২৫. এসব মুশরিকের পূর্বে যে সব জাতি ছিলো তারা মিথ্যারোপ করেছিলো। ফলে আকস্মিকভাবে তাদের নিকট শাস্তি এসে পড়ে যা তারা বুঝতে সক্ষম হয় নি। আর না তারা তাওবার প্রস্তুতি নিতে সক্ষম হয়েছিলো।
