ইউনুস: 22

It is He who enables you to travel on land and sea until, when you are in ships and they sail with them by a good wind and they rejoice therein, there comes a storm wind and the waves come upon them from every place and they expect to be engulfed, they supplicate Allāh, sincere to Him in religion, "If You should save us from this, we will surely be among the thankful."

He it is Who enables you to travel through land and sea, till when you are in the ships and they sail with them with a favourable wind, and they are glad therein, then comes a stormy wind and the waves come to them from all sides, and they think that they are encircled therein, they invoke Allah, making their Faith pure for Him Alone, saying: "If You (Allah) deliver us from this, we shall truly be of the grateful.

He is the One who enables you to travel on land and at sea, until when you are aboard the boats, and they sail with those on board, under a favorable wind, and they are pleased with it, there comes upon them a violent wind, and the wave comes upon them from every direction, and they think that they are surrounded from all sides, they pray to Allah, having faith in Him alone, (and say,) “If You deliver us from this, we shall be grateful indeed.”

He it is Who enables you to journey through the land and the sea. And so it happens that when you have boarded the ships and they set sail with a favourable wind, and the passengers rejoice at the pleasant voyage, then suddenly a fierce gale appears, and wave upon wave surges upon them from every side, and people believe that they are surrounded from all directions, and all of them cry out to Allah in full sincerity of faith: 'If You deliver us from this we shall surely be thankful.

He it is Who maketh you to go on the land and the sea till, when ye are in the ships and they sail with them with a fair breeze and they are glad therein, a storm-wind reacheth them and the wave cometh unto them from every side and they deem that they are overwhelmed therein; (then) they cry unto Allah, making their faith pure for Him only: If Thou deliver us from this, we truly will be of the thankful.

He it is Who enableth you to traverse through land and sea; so that ye even board ships;- they sail with them with a favourable wind, and they rejoice thereat; then comes a stormy wind and the waves come to them from all sides, and they think they are being overwhelmed: they cry unto Allah, sincerely offering (their) duty unto Him saying, "If thou dost deliver us from this, we shall truly show our gratitude!"

তিনি তোমাদেরকে জলে ও স্থলে ভ্রমণ করান। এমনকি যখন তোমরা নৌকায় আরোহণ করে অনুকূল হাওয়ার তালে আমোদ আহলাদে সফর করতে থাক, তখন ঝড়ো হাওয়া আঘাত হানে আর চারদিক থেকে তরঙ্গ ধেয়ে আসে, আর তারা মনে করে যে, তারা তরঙ্গমালায় পরিবেষ্টিত হয়ে পড়েছে। তখন তারা বিশুদ্ধ আনুগত্যে আল্লাহকে ডেকে বলে, ‘তুমি যদি এত্থেকে আমাদেরকে পরিত্রাণ দাও তাহলে অবশ্য অবশ্যই আমরা শুকরগুজার বান্দাদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত হয়ে যাব।’

তিনিই তোমাদেরকে স্থলে ও সমুদ্রে ভ্রমণ করান। এমনকি যখন তোমরা নৌকায় থাক, আর তা তাদেরকে নিয়ে চলতে থাকে অনুকুল হাওয়ায় এবং তারা তা নিয়ে আনন্দিত হয়, (এ সময়) তাকে পেয়ে বসে ঝড়ো হাওয়া, আর চারদিক থেকে ধেয়ে আসে তরঙ্গ এবং তাদের নিশ্চিত ধারণা হয় যে, তাদেরকে পরিবেষ্টন করা হয়েছে। তখন তারা আল্লাহকে ডাকতে থাকে তাঁর জন্য দীনকে একনিষ্ঠ করে, ‘যদি আপনি এ থেকে আমাদেরকে নাজাত দেন, তাহলে আমরা অবশ্যই কৃতজ্ঞদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত হব’।

তিনি এমন, যিনি তোমাদেরকে স্থলভাগে ও পানি পথে পরিভ্রমণ করান; যখন তোমরা নৌকায় অবস্থান কর, আর সেই নৌকাগুলি লোকদেরকে নিয়ে অনুকূল বায়ুর সাহায্যে চলতে থাকে, আর তারা তাতে আনন্দিত হয়, (হঠাৎ) তাদের উপর এক প্রচন্ড (প্রতিকূল) বায়ু এসে পড়ে এবং প্রত্যেক দিক হতে তাদের উপর তরঙ্গমালা ধেয়ে আসে, আর তারা মনে করে যে, তারা (বিপদে) বেষ্টিত হয়ে পড়েছে, (তখন) সকলে খাঁটি বিশ্বাসের সাথে আল্লাহকেই ডাকতে থাকেঃ (হে আল্লাহ!) আপনি যদি আমাদেরকে এটা হতে রক্ষা করেন তাহলে আমরা অবশ্যই কৃতজ্ঞ হয়ে যাব।

তিনিই তোমাদেরকে জলে-স্থলে ভ্রমণ করান। এমনকি তোমরা যখন নৌযানে আরোহন কর এবং সেগুলো আরোহী নিয়ে অনুকূল বাতাসে বেরিয়ে যায় এবং তারা তাতে আনন্দিত হয়, তারপর যখন দমকা হাওয়া বইতে শুরু করে এবং চারদিক থেকে উত্তাল তরঙ্গমালা ধেয়ে আসে, আর তারা নিশ্চিত ধারণা করে যে, এবার তারা ঘেরাও হয়ে পড়েছে, তখন তারা আল্লাহ্‌কে তাঁর জন্য দীনকে একনিষ্ঠ করে ডেকে বলে: ‘আপনি আমাদের এ থেকে বাঁচালে আমরা অবশ্যই কৃতজ্ঞদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত হব।’

তিনিই তোমাদেরকে জলে-স্থলে ভ্রমণ করান এবং যখন তোমরা নৌকারোহী হও এবং এগুলো আরোহী নিয়ে অনুকূল বাতাসে বয়ে যায় এবং তারা তাতে আনন্দিত হয়, এমতাবস্থায় নৌকাগুলোর ওপর এক প্রচণ্ড বাতাস এসে পড়ে এবং সর্বদিক হতে তরঙ্গাহত হয় এবং তারা তা দ্বারা পরিবেষ্টিত হয়ে পড়েছে মনে করে, তখন তারা আনুগত্যে বিশুদ্ধচিত্ত হয়ে আল্লাহকে ডেকে বলে: ‘তুমি আমাদেরকে এ হতে পরিত্রাণ করলে আমরা অবশ্যই কৃতজ্ঞদের অন্তর্ভুক্ত হব।’

২২. হে মানুষ! একমাত্র আল্লাহই তোমাদেরকে স্থলভাগে নিজেদের পা ও পশুর পিঠে ভ্রমণ করান। তেমনিভাবে তিনি সাগরেও তোমাদেরকে নৌকায় ভ্রমণ করান। অনুকূল আবহাওয়ায় তোমাদের নিয়ে সাগরে নৌকাগুলো চলতে থাকলে আরোহীরা খুশি হয়। এমতাবস্থায় হঠাৎ তাদের উপর ঝড় বাতাস বয়ে যায় এবং চতুর্দিক থেকে সাগরের ঢেউ ধেয়ে আসে আর তাদের এ ধারণা প্রবল হয় যে, তারা নিশ্চিত ধ্বংস হবে তখন তারা এক আল্লাহর সাথে কাউকে শরীক না করে ডাকতে থাকে: আপনি আমাদেরকে এ ধ্বংসাত্মক বিপদ থেকে উদ্ধার করলে আমরা আপনার নিয়ামতের দরুন নিশ্চয়ই আপনার কৃতজ্ঞ বান্দা হয়ে যাবো।
