আল-কাহফ: 56

And We send not the messengers except as bringers of good tidings and warners. And those who disbelieve dispute by [using] falsehood to [attempt to] invalidate thereby the truth and have taken My verses, and that of which they are warned, in ridicule.

And We send not the Messengers except as giver of glad tidings and warners. But those who disbelieve, dispute with false argument, in order to refute the truth thereby. And they treat My Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), and that with which they are warned, as jest and mockery!

We send the messengers only as bearers of good tidings and warnings, and those who disbelieve raise disputes on the basis of the false (arguments), so that they may nullify the truth with it; and they have taken My signs, and the warnings given to them, as mockery.

We raise Messengers only to give good news and to warn. But the unbelievers resort to falsehood in order to rebut the truth with it, and scoff at My revelations and My warnings.

We send not the messengers save as bearers of good news and warners. Those who disbelieve contend with falsehood in order to refute the Truth thereby. And they take Our revelations and that wherewith they are threatened as a jest.

We only send the messengers to give Glad Tidings and to give warnings: But the unbelievers dispute with vain argument, in order therewith to weaken the truth, and they treat My Signs as a jest, as also the fact that they are warned!

আমি রসূলদেরকে পাঠিয়ে থাকি একমাত্র সুসংবাদদাতা আর সতর্ককারী হিসেবে। কিন্তু কাফিরগণ মিথ্যা যুক্তি পেশ করে বিতর্ক করছে তা দিয়ে সত্যকে দুর্বল করে দেয়ার উদ্দেশে, আর তারা আমার নিদর্শন ও ভয় দেখানোকে হাসি-তামাশার বিষয় বানিয়ে নিয়েছে।

আর আমি তো রাসূলদেরকে সুসংবাদদাতা ও সতর্ককারীরূপেই পাঠিয়েছি এবং যারা কুফরী করেছে তারা বাতিল দ্বারা তর্ক করে, যাতে তার মাধ্যমে সত্যকে মিটিয়ে দিতে পারে। আর তারা আমার আয়াতসমূহকে এবং যা দিয়ে তাদেরকে সতর্ক করা হয়েছে, তাকে উপহাস হিসেবে গ্রহণ করে।

আমি শুধু সুসংবাদ দাতা ও সতর্ককারী রূপেই রাসূলদেরকে পাঠিয়ে থাকি, কিন্তু সত্য প্রত্যাখ্যানকারীরা মিথ্যা অবলম্বনে বিতন্ডা করে সত্যকে ব্যর্থ করে দেয়ার জন্য এবং আমার নিদর্শনাবলী ও যদ্বারা তাদেরকে সতর্ক করা হয়েছে সেই সবকে তারা বিদ্রুপের বিষয় রূপে গ্রহণ করে থাকে।

আর আমরা শুধু সুসংবাদদাতা ও সতর্ককারীরূপেই রাসুলদেরকে পাঠিয়ে থাকি, কিন্তু কাফেররা বাতিল দ্বারা তর্ক করে, যাতে তার মাধ্যমে সত্যকে ব্যর্থ করে দিতে পারে। আর তারা আমার নিদর্শনাবলী ও যা দ্বারা তাদেরকে সতর্ক করা হয়েছে সেসবকে বিদ্রূপের বিষয়রূপে গ্রহণ করে থাকে।

আমি কেবলমাত্র সুসংবাদদাতা ও সতর্ককারীরূপেই রাসূলগণকে পাঠিয়ে থাকি, কিন্তু কাফিরগণ মিথ্যা অবলম্বণে বিতণ্ডা করে সেটা দ্বারা সত্যকে ব্যর্থ করে দেবার জন্য আর তারা আমার নিদর্শনাবলী ও যার দ্বারা তাদেরকে সতর্ক করা হয়েছে সে সমস্ত‎কে বিদ্রƒপের বিষয়রূপে গ্রহণ করে থাকে।

৫৬. আমি আমার রাসূলদের মধ্যকার যাদেরকেই পাঠিয়েছি তাদেরকে কেবল ঈমানদার ও আনুগত্যশীলদের জন্য সুসংবাদ বহনকারী এবং পাপী ও কাফিরদের জন্য ভীতি প্রদর্শনকারীরূপেই পাঠিয়েছি। অন্তরগুলোকে হিদায়েতের উপর চালানোর ব্যাপারে প্রভাব বিস্তার করার কোন ক্ষমতা তাদের নেই। আল্লাহকে অস্বীকারকারীরা প্রমাণ সুস্পষ্ট হওয়া সত্ত্বেও রাসূলদের সাথে ঝগড়া করে যাতে তারা নিজেদের বাতুলতার মাধ্যমে মুহাম্মাদ (সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম) এর উপর নাযিলকৃত সত্যকে সরিয়ে দিতে পারে। বস্তুতঃ তারা কুর‘আন ও তা দ্বারা ভীতি প্রদর্শনকৃত ব্যাপারগুলোকে হাসি ও ঠাট্টার বিষয় বানিয়েছে।
