আল-মায়িদা: 49

And judge, [O Muḥammad], between them by what Allāh has revealed and do not follow their inclinations and beware of them, lest they tempt you away from some of what Allāh has revealed to you. And if they turn away - then know that Allāh only intends to afflict them with some of their [own] sins. And indeed, many among the people are defiantly disobedient.

And so judge (you O Muhammad SAW) between them by what Allah has revealed and follow not their vain desires, but beware of them lest they turn you (O Muhammad SAW) far away from some of that which Allah has sent down to you. And if they turn away, then know that Allah's Will is to punish them for some sins of theirs. And truly, most of men are Fasiqun (rebellious and disobedient to Allah).

We order you to judge between them according to what Allah has sent down. Do not follow their desires, and beware of them, lest they should turn you away from some of what Allah has sent down to you. If they turn away, be assured that Allah intends to make them suffer for some of their sins. Surely, many of the people are sinners.

Therefore, judge bet-ween them (O Muhammad!) by what Allah has revealed and do not follow their desires, and beware lest they tempt you away from anything of what Allah has revealed to you. And if they turn away, then know well that Allah has indeed decided to afflict them for some of their sins. For surely many of them are transgressors.

So judge between them by that which Allah hath revealed, and follow not their desires, but beware of them lest they seduce thee from some part of that which Allah hath revealed unto thee. And if they turn away, then know that Allah's Will is to smite them for some sin of theirs. Lo! many of mankind are evil-livers.

And this (He commands): Judge thou between them by what Allah hath revealed, and follow not their vain desires, but beware of them lest they beguile thee from any of that (teaching) which Allah hath sent down to thee. And if they turn away, be assured that for some of their crime it is Allah's purpose to punish them. And truly most men are rebellious.

আর তুমি তাদের মধ্যে বিচার ফয়সালা কর আল্লাহ যা নাযিল করেছেন তদনুযায়ী, তাদের খেয়াল খুশির অনুসরণ করবে না। আর তাদের থেকে সতর্ক থাক তারা যেন আল্লাহ তোমার প্রতি যা নাযিল করেছেন তার কোন কিছু থেকে তোমাকে ফেতনায় না ফেলতে পারে। যদি তারা মুখ ফিরিয়ে নেয়, তবে জেনে রেখ, আল্লাহ তাদের কোন কোন পাপের কারণে তাদেরকে শাস্তি দিতে চান, মানুষদের অধিকাংশই প্রকৃতপক্ষে সত্য ত্যাগী।

আর তাদের মধ্যে তার মাধ্যমে ফয়সালা কর, যা আল্লাহ নাযিল করেছেন এবং তাদের প্রবৃত্তির অনুসরণ করো না। আর তাদের থেকে সতর্ক থাক যে, আল্লাহ যা অবতীর্ণ করেছেন, তার কিছু থেকে তারা তোমাকে বিচ্যুত করবে। অতঃপর যদি তারা মুখ ফিরিয়ে নেয়, তাহলে জেনে রাখ যে, আল্লাহ তো কেবল তাদেরকে তাদের কিছু পাপের কারণেই আযাব দিতে চান। আর মানুষের অনেকেই ফাসিক।

আর আমি নির্দেশ দিচ্ছি যে, তুমি তাদের পারস্পরিক ব্যাপারে এই প্রেরিত কিতাব অনুযায়ী মীমাংসা করবে এবং তাদের প্রবৃত্তি অনুযায়ী কাজ করবেনা, এবং তাদের দিক থেকে সতর্ক থাকবে যেন তারা তোমাকে আল্লাহ প্রেরিত কোন নির্দেশ হতে বিভ্রান্ত করতে না পারে; অনন্তর তারা যদি মুখ ফিরিয়ে নেয় তাহলে দৃঢ় বিশ্বাস রেখ, আল্লাহর ইচ্ছা এটাই যে, তাদেরকে কোন কোন পাপের কারণে শাস্তি প্রদান করবেন; আর বহু লোকতো নাফরমানই হয়ে থাকে।

আর আল্লাহ যা নাযিল করেছেন আপনি সে অনুযায়ী বিচার নিষ্পত্তি করুন ও তাদের খেয়াল-খুশীর অনুসরণ করবেন না এবং তাদের ব্যাপারে সতর্ক হোন, যাতে আল্লাহ আপনার প্রতি যা নাযিল করেছেন তারা এর কোনো কিছু হতে আপনাকে বিচ্যুত না করে। অতঃপর যদি তারা মুখ ফিরিয়ে নেয়, তবে জেনে রাখুন যে, আল্লাহ তাদেরকে কেবল তাদের কোনো কোনো পাপের জন্য শাস্তি দিতে চান। আর নিশ্চয় মানুষের মধ্যে অনেকেই তো ফাসেক।

আর আপনি তাদের মধ্যে মীমাংসা করে দিন আল্লাহ যা অবতীর্ণ করেছেন সে অনুযায়ী এবং তাদের খেয়াল-খুশীর অনুসরণ করবেন না, আর তাদের সম্পর্কে সাবধান থাকবেন যেন তারা আপনাকে বিভ্রান্ত করতে না পারে আপনার ওপর যা অবতীর্ণ করা হয়েছে তার কোন কিছু থেকে। যদি তারা মুখ ফিরিয়ে নেয় তবে জেনে রাখুন, আল্লাহ চান তাদের কোন কোন গুনাহর জন্য তাদের শাস্তি প্রদান করতে। আর নিশ্চয়ই মানুষের মধ্যে তো অনেকেই ফাসিক।

৪৯. হে রাসূল! আল্লাহ আপনার প্রতি যে বিধান নাযিল করেছেন আপনি সে অনুযায়ী তাদের মাঝে ফায়সালা করুন। আপনি কখনো তাদের কুপ্রবৃত্তির অনুসরণ সৃষ্ট খেয়াল-খুশির অনুকরণ করবেন না। আর আপনি এ ব্যাপারে সতর্ক থাকুন যে, তারা যেন আপনাকে আল্লাহ তা‘আলা আপনার উপর যা নাযিল করেছেন তার কিয়দংশ থেকে পথভ্রষ্ট করতে না পারে। তারা কখনো এ পথে চেষ্টা চালাতে সামান্যটুকুও ত্রুটি করবে না। তারা আপনার প্রতি নাযিল করা আল্লাহর ফায়সালা গ্রহণ থেকে বিমুখ হলে আপনি জেনে রাখুন যে, আল্লাহ তা‘আলা চান তাদের কিছু গুনাহর জন্য দুনিয়াতে আর সকল গুনাহর জন্য পরকালে শাস্তি দিতে। বস্তুতঃ অনেক মানুষই আল্লাহর আনুগত্যের বাইরে।
