How many a generation have We destroyed before them, and they [then] called out; but it was not a time for escape.

How many a generation We have destroyed before them, and they cried out when there was no longer time for escape!

How many a generation have We destroyed before them, so they cried out (for mercy), while no time was left for having any refuge.

How many a nation did We destroy before them! (When they approached their doom) they cried out (for deliverance), but the time for deliverance was already past.

How many a generation We destroyed before them, and they cried out when it was no longer the time for escape!

How many generations before them did We destroy? In the end they cried (for mercy)- when there was no longer time for being saved!

তাদের পূর্বে আমি কত মানবগোষ্ঠীকে ধ্বংস করে দিয়েছি, অবশেষে তারা (ক্ষমা লাভের জন্য) আর্তচিৎকার করেছিল, কিন্তু তখন পরিত্রাণ লাভের আর কোন অবকাশই ছিল না।

তাদের পূর্বে আমি কত প্রজন্মকে ধ্বংস করেছি; তখন তারা আর্তচিৎকার করেছিল, কিন্তু তখন পলায়নের কোন সময় ছিল না।

এদের পূর্বে আমি কত জনগোষ্ঠী ধ্বংস করেছি, তখন তারা আর্ত চিৎকার করেছিল। কিন্তু তখন পরিত্রাণের কোনই উপায় ছিলনা।

এদের আগে আমরা বহু জনগোষ্ঠী ধ্বংস করেছি; তখন তারা আর্ত চীৎকার করেছিল। কিন্তু তখন পরিত্রাণের কোনোই সময় ছিল না।

তাদের পূর্বে আমি বহু সম্প্রদায়কে ধ্বংস করেছি; তখন তারা আর্তনাদ করেছিল, কিন্তু তখন লাভের কোন সময় ছিল না।

৩. আমি তাদের পূর্বে কতো জাতিকে ধ্বংস করেছি। যারা নিজেদের রাসূলদের প্রতি মিথ্যারোপ করেছে। অতঃপর তারা আবার নিজেদের উপর শাস্তি আপতিত হলে আর্তনাদ করেছে। অথচ সেটি শাস্তি থেকে রেহাই পাওয়ার এমন সময় ছিলো না যে, তাতে তাদের আর্তনাদ কোন কাজে আসবে।
