আয-যুখরুফ: 23

And similarly, We did not send before you any warner into a city except that its affluent said, "Indeed, we found our fathers upon a religion, and we are, in their footsteps, following."

And similarly, We sent not a warner before you (O Muhammad SAW) to any town (people) but the luxurious ones among them said: "We found our fathers following a certain way and religion, and we will indeed follow their footsteps."

Similarly, We did not send a warner to a town before you, but its affluent people said, “We have found our fathers on a certain way, and we are following their footprints.”

And thus it is: whenever We sent any warner to a city its affluent ones said: “We found our forefathers on a way and we continue to follow in their footsteps.”

And even so We sent not a warner before thee (Muhammad) into any township but its luxurious ones said: Lo! we found our fathers following a religion, and we are following their footprints.

Just in the same way, whenever We sent a Warner before thee to any people, the wealthy ones among them said: "We found our fathers following a certain religion, and we will certainly follow in their footsteps."

এভাবে তোমার পূর্বে যখনই আমি কোন জনপদে সতর্ককারী (নবী-রসূল) পাঠিয়েছি, তখনই তাদের সম্পদশালী লোকেরা বলেছে- আমরা আমাদের পূর্বপুরুষদেরকে এক ধর্মমত পালনরত পেয়েছি আর আমরা তাদেরই পদাঙ্ক অনুসরণ করছি।

আর এভাবেই তোমাদের পূর্বে যখনই আমি কোন জনপদে সতর্ককারী পাঠিয়েছি, তখনই সেখানকার বিলাসপ্রিয়রা বলেছে, ‘নিশ্চয় আমরা আমাদের পিতৃপুরুষদেরকে এক মতাদর্শের উপর পেয়েছি এবং নিশ্চয় আমরা তাদের পদাঙ্ক অনুসরণ করব’।

এভাবে তোমার পূর্বে কোন জনপদে যখনই কোন সতর্ককারী প্রেরণ করেছি তখন ওর সমৃদ্ধশালী ব্যক্তিরা বলতঃ আমরাতো আমাদের পূর্ব-পুরুষদেরকে পেয়েছি এক মতাদর্শের অনুসারী এবং আমরা তাদেরই পদাঙ্ক অনুসরণ করছি।

আর এভাবেই আপনার পূর্বে কোনো জনপদে যখনই আমরা কোনো সতর্ককারী পাঠিয়েছি তখনই তার বিলাসপ্রিয়রা বলেছে, ‘নিশ্চয় আমারা আমাদের পিতৃপুরুষদেরকে এক মতাদর্শে পেয়েছি এবং আমরা তাদেরই পদাংক অনুসরণ করে থাকব।’

অনুরূপভাবে তোমার পূর্বে কোন জনপদে যখনই কোন সতর্ককারী প্রেরণ করেছি তখন তার সমৃদ্ধশালী ব্যক্তিরা বলত : আমরা তো আমাদের পূর্বপুরুষদেরকে পেয়েছি এক মতাদর্শের ওপর এবং আমরা তাদেরই পদাঙ্ক অনুসরণ করছি।

২৩. যেভাবে এসব লোক মিথ্যারোপ করছে এবং তাদের পূর্বপুরুষদের অন্ধ অনুসরণকে প্রমাণ বানিয়ে নিয়েছে হে নবী! আপনার পূর্বে যে রাসূলকেই তার জাতিকে সতর্ক করার উদ্দেশ্যে প্রেরণ করেছি সে জাতির বিত্তবান নেতা ও গুরুরা এ কথাই বলেছে যে, আমরা আমাদের পূর্বপুরুষদেরকে একটি দ্বীন ও আদর্শের উপর প্রতিষ্ঠিত পেয়েছি এবং আমরা তাদেরই পদাঙ্ক অনুসারী। অতএব, আপনার জাতি উদ্ভট কিছু না।
