আয-যুখরুফ: 8

And We destroyed greater than them in [striking] power, and the example of the former peoples has preceded.

Then We destroyed men stronger (in power) than these, and the example of the ancients has passed away (before them).

So We have destroyed those who were stronger than these (people of Makkah) in power, and the example of the earlier people has already passed.

We utterly destroyed them although they were greater in might than these. The examples of ancient peoples have gone before.

Then We destroyed men mightier than these in prowess; and the example of the men of old hath gone (before them).

So We destroyed (them)- stronger in power than these;- and (thus) has passed on the Parable of the peoples of old.

আমি তাদেরকে ধ্বংস করেছি- যারা ছিল এদের চেয়ে অনেক বেশি শক্তিশালী। পূর্বের জাতিগুলোর উদাহরণ অতীত হয়ে গেছে।

ফলে তাদের চেয়েও শক্তিতে প্রবলদেরকে আমি ধ্বংস করে দিয়েছিলাম। আর পূর্ববর্তীদের দৃষ্টান্ত অতীত হয়ে গেছে।

তাদের মধ্যে যারা এদের অপেক্ষা শক্তিতে প্রবল ছিল তাদেরকে আমি ধ্বংস করেছিলাম; আর এভাবে চলে আসছে পূর্ববর্তীদের অনুরূপ দৃষ্টান্ত।

ফলে যারা এদের চেয়ে শক্তিতে প্রবল ছিল তাদেরকে আমরা ধ্বংস করেছিলাম; আর গত হয়েছে পূর্ববর্তীদের অনুরূপ দৃষ্টান্ত।

তাদের মধ্যে যারা এদের অপেক্ষা শক্তিতে প্রবল ছিল তাদেরকে আমি ধ্বংস করেছিলাম; আর এভাবে চলে আসছে পূর্ববর্তীদের অনুরূপ দৃষ্টান্ত।

৮. ফলে আমি তাদেরকে ধ্বংস করেছি যারা এসব জাতি অপেক্ষা অধিক প্রতাপশালী ছিলো। অতএব, আমি তাদের অপেক্ষা দুর্বলদেরকে ধ্বংস করতে অপারগ নই। আর কুরআনে পূর্বেকার জাতিসমূহ যেমন: আদ, সামূদ লূত সম্প্রদায় ও মাদয়ানবাসী তাদেরকে ধ্বংস করার বর্ণনা অতিক্রান্ত হয়েছে।
