The example of what they spend in this worldly life is like that of a wind containing frost which strikes the harvest of a people who have wronged themselves [i.e., sinned] and destroys it. And Allāh has not wronged them, but they wrong themselves.

The likeness of what they spend in this world is the likeness of a wind which is extremely cold; it struck the harvest of a people who did wrong against themselves and destroyed it, (i.e. the good deed of a person is only accepted if he is a monotheist and believes in all the Prophets of Allah, including Christ and Muhammad SAW). Allah wronged them not, but they wronged themselves.

The example of what they spend in this worldly life is just like a wind that, having chill within, struck the tillage of those who wronged themselves, and destroyed it. Allah has not wronged them; rather, they did wrong to themselves.

The example of what they spend in the life of this world is like that of a wind accompanied with frost which smites the harvest of a people who wronged themselves, and lays it to waste. It is not Allah who wronged them; rather it is they who wrong themselves.

The likeness of that which they spend in this life of the world is as the likeness of a biting, icy wind which smiteth the harvest of a people who have wronged themselves, and devastateth it. Allah wronged them not, but they do wrong themselves.

What they spend in the life of this (material) world May be likened to a wind which brings a nipping frost: It strikes and destroys the harvest of men who have wronged their own souls: it is not Allah that hath wronged them, but they wrong themselves.

এ পার্থিব জীবনে তারা যা ব্যয় করে তার দৃষ্টান্ত হিমশীতল বাতাসের মত যা নিজেদের প্রতি যুলমকারী সম্প্রদায়ের শস্যক্ষেত্রকে আঘাত করে এবং তাকে নষ্ট করে। মূলতঃ তাদের প্রতি আল্লাহ কোন প্রকার যুলম করেননি, বরং তারা নিজেরাই নিজেদের প্রতি যুলম করে থাকে।

তারা দুনিয়ার জীবনে যা ব্যয় করে, তার উপমা সেই বাতাসের ন্যায়, যাতে রয়েছে প্রচন্ড ঠান্ডা, যা পৌঁছে এমন কওমের শস্যক্ষেতে, যারা নিজদের উপর যুলম করেছিল। অতঃপর তা শস্যক্ষেতকে ধ্বংস করে দেয়। আর আল্লাহ তাদের উপর যুলম করেননি, বরং তারা নিজেরাই নিজদের উপর যুলম করে।

তারা পার্থিব জীবনে যা ব্যয় করে তার দৃষ্টান্ত শৈত্যপূর্ণ ঝঞ্ঝা-বায়ুর অনুরূপ - যারা স্বীয় জীবনের প্রতি অত্যাচার করেছে - ওটা সেই সকল সম্প্রদায়ের শস্যক্ষেতে নিপতিত হয় এবং তা বিধ্বস্ত করে। এবং আল্লাহ তাদের প্রতি অত্যাচার করেননি, বরং তারাই স্বীয় জীবনের প্রতি অত্যাচার করেছে।

এ পার্থিব জীবনে যা তারা ব্যয় করে তার দৃষ্টান্ত হিমশীতল বায়ূ, যা আঘাত করে ঐ জাতির শস্যক্ষেতে যারা নিজেদের উপর যুলুম করেছে; অতঃপর তা ধ্বংস করে দেয়। আর আল্লাহ তাদের প্রতি কোনো যুলুম করেননি, তারাই নিজেদের প্রতি যুলুম করে।

তারা এ দুনিয়াতে যা কিছু খরচ করেছে তার উদাহরণ হচ্ছে ঐ বাতাসের সাথে যাতে রয়েছে অতি ঠাণ্ডা, তা আঘাত করল এমন এক কওমের শস্যক্ষেতে যারা নিজেদের ওপর অন্যায় করেছিল। অতঃপর তা ধ্বংস করে দিল। আর আল্লাহ তাদের ওপর কোন অন্যায় করেননি; বরং তারাই নিজেদের ওপর জুলুম করেছে।

১১৭. বস্তুতঃ কাফিররা কল্যাণের কাজে যা খরচ করছে এবং তারা তার সাওয়াবের যে অপেক্ষা করছে তার দৃষ্টান্ত হলো সে বাতাসের ন্যায় যাতে রয়েছে প্রচুর ঠাণ্ডা - যা গুনাহগার জালিমদের শস্য ক্ষেতে প্রবাহিত হয়ে শস্যগুলোকে ধ্বংস করে দেয়। অথচ তারা এগুলো থেকে অনেক কল্যাণেরই আশা করছিলো। বস্তুতঃ যেভাবে এ বাতাস শস্যগুলোকে ধ্বংস করে দিলো যার ফলে তা থেকে কোন উপকারই পাওয়া গেলো না তেমনিভাবে কুফরি তাদের আকাক্সিক্ষত আমলগুলোর সাওয়াব নষ্ট করে দিবে। এর মাধ্যমে আল্লাহ তাদের উপর কোন যুলুম করেনি। বস্তুতঃ আল্লাহ তা‘আলা এ দোষগুলোর অনেক ঊর্ধ্বে। বরং তারা আল্লাহর সাথে কুফরি ও তাঁর রাসূলদেরকে অস্বীকার করার দরুন নিজেরাই নিজেদের উপর যুলুম করেছে।
