আল-আরাফ: 53

Do they await except its result? The Day its result comes, those who had ignored it before will say, "The messengers of our Lord had come with the truth, so are there [now] any intercessors to intercede for us or could we be sent back to do other than what we used to do?" They will have lost themselves, and lost from them is what they used to invent.

Await they just for the final fulfillment of the event? On the Day the event is finally fulfilled (i.e. the Day of Resurrection), those who neglected it before will say: "Verily, the Messengers of our Lord did come with the truth, now are there any intercessors for us that they might intercede on our behalf? Or could we be sent back (to the first life of the world) so that we might do (good) deeds other than those (evil) deeds which we used to do?" Verily, they have lost their ownselves (i.e. destroyed themselves) and that which they used to fabricate (invoking and worshipping others besides Allah) has gone away from them.

They are waiting for nothing but its final result (i.e. the punishment promised in the Qur’ān). The day when its final result will come, those who had ignored it earlier will say, “Surely, the messengers of our Lord had come with truth. So, are there any intercessors for us who could intercede in our favor? Or, could we be sent back, so that we might do contrary to what we used to do?” Indeed, they have put their selves to loss, and vanished from them all that they used to fabricate.

Are they waiting for the fulfilment of its warning? On the Day that warning is fulfilled, those that have neglected it before will say: 'The Messengers of Our Lord did indeed bring forth the truth. Are there any intercessors who will now plead on our behalf? Or, can we be restored to life that we might perform differently from that which we did? ' They surely ended in utter loss, and the lies they had fabricated failed them.

Await they aught save the fulfilment thereof? On the day when the fulfilment thereof cometh, those who were before forgetful thereof will say: The messengers of our Lord did bring the Truth! Have we any intercessors, that they may intercede for us? Or can we be returned (to life on earth), that we may act otherwise than we used to act? They have lost their souls, and that which they devised hath failed them.

Do they just wait for the final fulfilment of the event? On the day the event is finally fulfilled, those who disregarded it before will say: "The messengers of our Lord did indeed bring true (tidings). Have we no intercessors now to intercede on our behalf? Or could we be sent back? then should we behave differently from our behaviour in the past." In fact they will have lost their souls, and the things they invented will leave them in the lurch.

তারা কি তার পরিণামের অপেক্ষা করছে (কাফিরদেরকে যে পরিণামের ব্যাপারে এ কিতাব খবর দিয়েছে) যখন তার (খবর দেয়া) পরিণাম এসে যাবে তখন পূর্বে যারা এর কথা ভুলে গিয়েছিল তারা বলবে, আমাদের প্রতিপালকের রসূলগণ তো প্রকৃত সত্য নিয়েই এসেছিল, এখন কোন সুপারিশকারী আছে কি যারা আমাদের জন্য সুপারিশ করবে অথবা আমাদেরকে (পৃথিবীতে) ফিরে যেতে দেয়া হবে কি যাতে আমরা যে ‘আমাল করছিলাম তত্থেকে ভিন্নতর ‘আমাল করি? তারা নিজেদেরকে ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত করে ফেলেছে, আর তারা যে মিথ্যে রচনা করত তাও তাদের কাছ থেকে উধাও হয়ে গেছে।

তারা কি শুধু তার পরিণামের অপেক্ষা করছে? যেদিন তার পরিণাম প্রকাশ হবে, তখন পূর্বে যারা তাকে ভুলে ছিল, তারা বলবে, ‘আমাদের রবের রাসূলগণ তো সত্য নিয়ে এসেছিলেন। সুতরাং আমাদের জন্য কি সুপারিশকারীদের কেউ আছে, যে আমাদের জন্য সুপারিশ করবে, কিংবা আমাদের প্রত্যাবর্তন করানো হবে, তারপর আমরা যা করতাম তা ভিন্ন অন্য আমল করব’? তারা তো নিজদেরকে ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত করেছে এবং তারা যে মিথ্যা রটাত, তা তাদের থেকে বিলুপ্ত হয়ে গিয়েছে।

তারা কি এই অপেক্ষায়ই আছে যে, এর বিষয় বস্তু প্রকাশ করা হোক? যেদিন এর বিষয় বস্তু প্রকাশিত হবে সেদিন যারা এর আগমনের কথা ভুলে গিয়েছিল তারা বলবেঃ বাস্তবিকই আমাদের রবের রাসূলগণ সত্য বাণী নিয়ে এসেছিলেন, এমন কোন সুপারিশকারী আছে কি যারা আমাদের জন্য সুপারিশ করবে? অথবা আমাদেরকে কি পুনরায় দুনিয়ায় পাঠানো যেতে পারে যাতে আমরা পূর্বের কৃতকর্মের তুলনায় ভিন্ন কিছু করতে পারি? নিঃসন্দেহে তারা নিজেরাই নিজেদের ক্ষতি করেছে, আর তারা যেসব মিথ্যা (মা‘বূদ ও রসম রেওয়াজ) রচনা করেছিল, তাও তাদের হতে অন্তর্হিত হয়ে যাবে।

তারা কি শুধু সে পরিণামের অপেক্ষা করে? যেদিন সে পরিণাম প্রকাশ পাবে, সেদিন যারা আগে সেটার কথা ভুলে গিয়েছিল তারা বলবে, ‘আমাদের রবের রাসূলগণ তো সত্যবাণী এনেছিলেন, আমাদের কি এমন কোনো সুপারিশকারী আছে যে আমাদের জন্য সুপারিশ করবে অথবা আমাদেরকে কি আবার ফেরত পাঠানো হবে-- যেন আমরা আগে যা করতাম তা থেকে ভিন্ন কিছু করতে পারি?’ অবশ্যই তারা নিজেদেরকে ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত করেছে এবং তারা যে মিথ্যা রটনা করত, তা তাদের কাছ থেকে হারিয়ে গেছে।

তারা কি শুধু তার পরিণামের প্রতীক্ষা করছে যেদিন তার পরিণাম প্রকাশ পাবে সেদিন যারা পূর্বে তার কথা ভুলে গিয়েছিল; তারা বলবে, ‘আমাদের প্রতিপালকের রাসূলগণ তো সত্য বাণীই নিয়ে এসেছিল, আমাদের কি এমন কোন সুপারিশকারী আছে যে আমাদের জন্য সুপারিশ করবে অথবা আমাদেরকে কি পুনরায় ফিরে যেতে দেয়া হবে, যেন আমরা পূর্বে যা করতাম তা হতে ভিন্নতর কিছু করতে পারি? তারা নিজেদেরই ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত করেছে এবং তারা যে মিথ্যা রচনা করত তাও তাদের থেকে উধাও হয়ে গেছে।

৫৩. কাফিররা কেবল সেই যন্ত্রণাদায়ক শাস্তি আসারই অপেক্ষা করছে যার আসার ব্যাপারে ইতিপূর্বে তাদেরকে হুঁশিয়ারি দেয়া হয়েছে। যা পরকালে তাদের কর্মের চূড়ান্ত পরিণতিই বটে। যখন তাদেরকে দেয়া প্রতিশ্রুত সেই শাস্তি এবং মু’মিনদেরকে দেয়া প্রতিশ্রুত সেই সুখ-শান্তি সামনে চলে আসবে তখন দুনিয়াতে কুর‘আন পরিত্যাগকারী ও তার বিধি-বিধানের উপর আমল করতে অস্বীকারকারী ব্যক্তিবর্গরা বলবে: নিশ্চয়ই আমাদের প্রতিপালক, প্রেরিত রাসূলগণ আমাদের নিকট সত্য নিয়ে এসেছেন; যাতে কোন সন্দেহ নেই। এটি যে আল্লাহর পক্ষ থেকে তাতেও কোন সন্দেহ নেই। আপসোস! আজ যদি আমাদের জন্য এমন কিছু মধ্যস্থতাকারী থাকতো যারা আমাদের শাস্তি ক্ষমা করিয়ে নেয়ার জন্য আল্লাহর নিকট সুপারিশ করতো! অথবা আমরা যদি দুনিয়ার জীবনে ফিরে গিয়ে বদ আমলের পরিবর্তে আমাদের নাজাতের জন্য কিছু নেক আমল করে আসতে পারতাম! বস্তুতঃ এ কাফিররা নিজেদের কুফরির দরুন নিজেদেরকে ধ্বংসের দ্বারপ্রান্তে পৌঁছিয়ে দিয়ে নিজেরাই ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত হয়েছে। উপরন্তু তারা আল্লাহ ব্যতিরেকে যাদের পূজা করতো তারা আজ অদৃশ্য হয়ে গেছে। তারা পূজারীদের কোন ফায়েদায় আসেনি।
