قَالَ إِنَّهُۥ يَقُولُ إِنَّهَا بَقَرَةٌ لَّا ذَلُولٌ تُثِيرُ ٱلْأَرْضَ وَلَا تَسْقِى ٱلْحَرْثَ مُسَلَّمَةٌ لَّا شِيَةَ فِيهَا ۚ قَالُوا۟ ٱلْـَٔـٰنَ جِئْتَ بِٱلْحَقِّ ۚ فَذَبَحُوهَا وَمَا كَادُوا۟ يَفْعَلُونَ
English Translations
He said, "He says, 'It is a cow neither trained to plow the earth nor to irrigate the field, one free from fault with no spot upon her.'" They said, "Now you have come with the truth." So they slaughtered her, but they could hardly do it.
He [Musa (Moses)] said, "He says, 'It is a cow neither trained to till the soil nor water the fields, sound, having no other colour except bright yellow.' " They said, "Now you have brought the truth." So they slaughtered it though they were near to not doing it.
He said, “He says that it should be a cow which is not tractable for tilling the soil or in watering the fields, (and it should be) sound and without blemish.” They said, “Now, you have come up with the right description.” Then they slaughtered her, although it appeared that they would not do it.
Moses answered: “Lo! He says, she is a cow unyoked to plough the earth or to water the tillage, one that has been kept secure, with no blemish on her!” Thereupon they cried out: “Now you have come forth with the information that will direct us aright.” And they slaughtered her although they scarcely seemed to do so.
(Moses) answered: Lo! He saith: Verily she is a cow unyoked; she plougheth not the soil nor watereth the tilth; whole and without mark. They said: Now thou bringest the truth. So they sacrificed her, though almost they did not.
He said: "He says: A heifer not trained to till the soil or water the fields; sound and without blemish." They said: "Now hast thou brought the truth." Then they offered her in sacrifice, but not with good-will.

মূসা বলল, ‘তিনি বলছেন, তা এমন এক গরু যা জমি চাষে ও ক্ষেতে পানি সেচের জন্য ব্যবহৃত হয়নি বরং সুস্থ ও নিখুঁত’। তারা বলল, ‘এখন তুমি সত্য প্রকাশ করেছ’। তারা তাকে যবহ করল যদিও তাদের জন্য সেটা প্রায় অসম্ভব ছিল।
সে বলল, ‘নিশ্চয় তিনি বলছেন, ‘নিশ্চয় তা এমন গাভী, যা ব্যবহৃত হয়নি জমি চাষ করায় আর না ক্ষেতে পানি দেয়ায়। সুস্থ যাতে কোন খুঁত নেই’। তারা বলল, ‘এখন তুমি সত্য নিয়ে এসেছ’। অতঃপর তারা তা যবেহ করল অথচ তারা তা করার ছিল না।
সে বলেছিলঃ নিশ্চয়ই তিনি বলেছেন যে, অবশ্যই সেই গরু সুস্থকায়, নিখুঁত, ওটা চাষাবাদের কাজে লাগানো হয়নি এবং ক্ষেতে পানি সেচনেও নিযুক্ত হয়নি। তারা বলেছিলঃ এক্ষণে তুমি সত্য এনেছ, অতঃপর তারা ওটা যবাহ করল যা তাদের করার ইচ্ছা ছিলনা।
মূসা বললেন, ‘তিনি বলেছেন, সেটা এমন এক গাভি যা জমি চাষে ও ক্ষেতে পানি সেচের জন্য ব্যবহৃত হয়নি, সুস্থ ও নিখুঁত’। তারা বলল, ‘এখন তুমি সত্য নিয়ে এসেছ’। অবশেষে তারা সেটাকে যবেহ করলো, যদিও তারা তা করতে প্রস্তুত ছিলো না।
তিনি (মূসা) বললেন: নিশ্চয় তিনি বলেছেন যে, অবশ্যই সে গরু সুস্থকায়, নিষ্কলংক, ওটা কর্ম বা ভূ-কর্ষণের জন্য লাগানো হয়নি এবং ক্ষেতে পানি সেচনেও নিযুক্ত হয়নি, তারা বলেছিল, এক্ষণে তুমি সত্য প্রকাশ করেছ, অতঃপর তারা ওটা যবেহ্ করল যদিও তাদের জন্য সেটা প্রায় অসম্ভব ছিল।
৭১. তখন মূসা (আলাইহিস-সালাম) তাদেরকে বললেন: আল্লাহ তা‘আলা বলছেন, গাভীটি এমন হতে হবে যে, তা দিয়ে কখনো চাষাবাদ করা হয়নি। এমনকি তা দিয়ে কখনো পানিও সেচ দেয়া হয়নি। তাতে কোন ধরনের খুঁত থাকতে পারবে না। এমনকি হলুদ বর্ণ ছাড়া অন্য বর্ণের কোন চিহ্নও থাকতে পারবে না। তখন তারা বলে উঠলো, এইমাত্র আপনি গাভীটির সূক্ষ্ম বর্ণনা দিয়েছেন। এখন আমরা সত্যিই পুরোপুরিভাবে গাভীটি চিহ্নিত করতে পারবো। পরিশেষে তারা গাভীটি যবাই করলো। অথচ তাদের ঝগড়া ও হঠকারিতার দরুন গাভীটি যবাই না করারই উপক্রম হয়েছিলো।
